Meredith's Message - February/March

At CFEC we strive to provide opportunities for children to explore the world around us.  Each child has the ability to engage in new experiences that allow them to use their unique abilities.  Exploring both the inside and outside world is critical for children’s emotional, social, and physical development.  Trying new things develops new skills as well as grows a child’s sense of confidence and competence. Our staff takes the time to allow our children to explore at their own pace and make new discoveries together.  This winter our children have celebrated Black History Month through a collection of toys that reflect the beauty and diversity of the African diaspora; spent Read Across America Day enjoying books with characters that look like them; and, through horticultural therapy they were introduced to and interacted with worms. In addition to school-based exploration, several of our children and families have received new tools to help them enjoy the outdoors together – including an adaptive life vest for water play, a raised garden bed for growing their own vegetables, and collapsible strollers for easier exploration without the need to travel with heavy wheelchairs.Thank you for your generous support for our children and families!  Your partnership is helping us change lives as our programs provide possibilities for both children and families to reach their fullest potential.
