Celebrating Reading

We celebrated Read Across America Day earlier this month with two fabulous local authors, Debbie Linville and Marty Hartman. Debbie captivated all five of our Infant Toddler classes with her book, "Grandma's Handgrown Love." Based on the experiences shared with her very own "Gran," we were so honored when she presented each teacher with a copy for their classroom. Marty kept all of our Special Children's School classes entertained with "The Adventures of Wally the Wheelchair." This story is based on an experience that he still remembers well-- that of his grandfather buying him his very first wheelchair when he was three years old. Marty ensured that each student received a signed photo of the main characters in the story: Wally the Wheelchair and his boy Timmy. Both of these books, as well as others written by these talented authors, can be purchased on Amazon. The school-age students at The Children's Center had five amazing community volunteers who brought their favorite children's book to share. From corporate executives to college students in the middle of exam week, we are so thankful to everyone who shared the joy of reading with our young learners!
