A Night to Remember!

On June 6th, we celebrated 70 years of The Centers for Exceptional Children with our Unfolding Possibilities Fundraising Dinner at Kaleideum. The evening kicked off with raffles for artwork created by our students, our ever-popular mystery wall, and a signature cocktail. We were delighted that Winston Salem/Forsyth County Schools Superintendent, Tricia McManus joined us and shared moving remarks on the longstanding history between CFEC and the school district. We are so grateful for the time she shared with us and her support of our partnership with Winston Salem/Forsyth County Schools. As we moved into the program portion of the evening, attendees heard from a variety of different voices, starting with our Executive Director, Debbie Wilson, who provided an overview of all the ways The Centers for Exceptional Children help children with disabilities and their families thrive. Our Development and Marketing Coordinator and current parent, Kathleen Hansen shared her family’s story of discovering CFEC and all the ways CFEC has made a lasting impact on her son, Mitchell. There weren’t many dry eyes in the building! We concluded the event with a bid for program support and it was wonderful to see so many paddles raised by individuals willing to make a difference for our families and programs. Overall, we raised $59,000 that will allow us to look toward the next 70 years and plan for all the families we will have the opportunity to love and support.
