A Celebration of Black Characters and Authors
It’s important that children have access to diverse books, and young readers will love these tales of daring heroes, brave kiddos and great friendships. This month we asked members of our instructional team to select their favorite children's books featuring Black characters at the forefront. These stories have positive role models that inspire and empower and were featured throughout the month on our social media pages. The books featured were "I Am Perfectly Designed" by Karamo Brown (selected by Cheryl Taylor); "Anti-Racist Baby" by Ibram Kendi (selected by Diane Adams), "I Promise" by LeBron James (selected by Patrice Bennett), "Ambitious Girl" by Meena Harris (selected by Joanne Thompson), and "Little Leaders: Bold Women in Black History" by Vashti Harrison (selected by Amira Smith).
