Our families have benefited significantly from a 2021 grant from Durham Cerebral Palsy Foundation Fund of Triangle Community Foundation. We are excited to be able to offer more opportunities to additional families in 2022 as the grant has been renewed! In 2021, the CFEC was fortunate to support families in our community in ways that we never thought possible. Some highlights include:

  • A swivel high chair booster for “K” so that she can be safely transferred  in and out of her seat by her grandmother;
  • A raised garden bed for “C”, so he can reach the beds and grow his own vegetables;
  • An ADA swing for “A” so he and his younger brother can enjoy backyard time on the swings together;
  • An adaptive life vest for “L”, so he can enjoy the water with his entire family in the summertime;
  • A moon pod chair and cover for”A”, so he can spend time out of his wheelchair in a safe and comfortable position;
  • An adaptive swing and swing set frame for “D” so he can play safely outside and get the sensory input he needs to stay calm;
  • A “GoTo” Postural support seat for “E” so that she can sit on the floor and play with her siblings and also have portable seating when visiting family over the holidays; and,
  • Collapsible strollers for “M” and for “M”, so they can go places with their families without having to transport heavy wheelchairs.

We have so many more families in our community who have children with CP and other neuromuscular disorders and we will continue to provide family grants this year. If you are interested in learning more, contact Chris Gentry at chrisfsn@thecfec.org.
